Rails Revamped
by Macol
Rails Revamped, a Fabric mod by Macol, reworks rail recipes and adds a new Interruption Rail block that releases minecarts while keeping their momentum.
What it does
The mod changes vanilla rails rather than replacing them. Rail recipes are reworked so rails cost slightly less, and the new recipes are described in the mod's own comparison chart. Regular rails gain an intersection shape for crossings, and powered rails respond to the signal strength carried by redstone dust, so weaker signals make minecarts travel more slowly. Redstone rails also change: they take more redstone dust in exchange for iron.
The Interruption Rail is the mod's one new block. It stops a minecart and then releases it while keeping its momentum, and a directional variant always sends minecarts in the direction it faces. Chained interruption rails that receive power together release their minecarts at the same time, so queues can be built by chaining them. A comparator can extract a set number of minecarts from such a chain, and combined with a detector rail the block can form a priority junction. The mod integrates with redstone, and Fabric API is required.
Key features
Interruption Rail block
A new rail block stops a minecart and releases it while keeping its original momentum.
Directional release
The directional variant always sends released minecarts in the direction the block faces.
Minecart queues
Chained interruption rails powered together release their minecarts at the same time.
Reworked rail recipes
Rail recipes are changed so rails are a bit cheaper to craft than in vanilla.
Signal-based powered rails
Powered rails respond to the signal strength from redstone dust, so weaker signals slow minecarts.

What the author says
This Minecraft mod brings some love to rails and attempts to catch up with other means of transport in the game. It adds one new rail block, improves various aspects of existing rails, and slightly improves the overall balance of transportation. All the features are vanilla-friendly, but if you don't like one, you…
