What it does

Farinata is a food mod built on the Italian dish of the same name, a thin savory cake made from chickpea flour, water and oil and traditionally eaten from northern and western Italy as a side or appetizer. The mod brings the ingredients into the game: wild chickpea plants can be found and harvested as crops, chickpeas roast into a snack, and they turn into flour. Players mix water from a bucket with flour to get a batter, then cook the batter to produce Farinata.

The food packs a lot of nutrients and can be eaten directly or placed in the world to share with friends. Installation needs Architectury API, and the mod is published for Fabric, Forge and Quilt across nine release versions, 1.19.4 – 1.21.1. Farinata runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it, and the code is open source under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Wild chickpea plants

Chickpea plants grow in the world as wild crops that can be harvested for their seeds and produce.

  2. Chickpea flour and roasted chickpeas

Chickpeas can be roasted into a snack or ground into flour for cooking.

  3. Batter and cooking

Flour mixed with water from a bucket makes a batter, which is cooked to create Farinata.

  4. Shareable food

Farinata provides nutrients, can be eaten directly, and can be placed in the world for other players to take.
