Aliases

by tonievortex

Aliases lets server administrators define custom command aliases on a Fabric server, with support for multiple sub-commands, player name suggestions and dynamic arguments.

FabricServer-side onlyAll rights reserved1.21.1

What it does

A server administrator creates, removes and lists aliases directly from the game console, without restarting the server. After the commandaliases reload command runs, edits saved to the aliases.json config file are applied right away. Aliases are built on Minecraft's native Brigadier command system, so the mod adds little overhead during play.

Aliases needs Fabric API and LuckPerms. LuckPerms works through the Fabric Permissions API, giving granular control over which players may use each alias. The mod is server-side only, so players join without installing it, and it is published for Fabric on 1.21.1 only, under All rights reserved and not as open source.

Key features

  1. Dynamic arguments

The args% placeholder inserts what a user types into the middle or the end of a command, letting a single alias handle many different inputs.

  2. Multi-command sequences

A single alias can run several commands in order, separated by a chosen separator, such as healing a player and then giving them an item.

  3. Smart tab-completion

Aliases can suggest player names during tab-completion, and an alias that needs a target selection asks for one.

  4. Real-time management

Aliases can be created, removed and listed from the game console, and edits to the config apply after a reload.

Questions

Does Aliases need Fabric API and LuckPerms?

Yes. Both are required dependencies, and LuckPerms supplies the permission checks that control which players may use each alias.

Does every player need Aliases installed?

No. Players join without it, since only the server has to run the mod.

Can aliases be changed without restarting the server?

Yes. Aliases can be created and removed from the console, and changes to aliases.json apply after the commandaliases reload command.
