expRepair
by lunixialive
expRepair lets a server repair gear with stored experience levels, using a passive mode or a manual sneak-click on the air.
What it does
Repair is controlled per server rather than left to vanilla Mending alone. In passive mode a damaged Mending-enchanted item is repaired automatically from the player's stored XP, and only once the player's bank stays above a set threshold. In manual mode nothing happens on its own: the player sneaks and right-clicks the air while holding the damaged item to spend levels on it.
Fabric API is optional. The code is open source under the MIT License. Operators can set server-wide defaults, force a mode or leave the choice to each player, and the config reloads without a restart.
Key features
Passive repair
Mending-enchanted gear is repaired from stored XP as it takes damage, and the bank is never drained below the threshold.
Manual repair
Holding a damaged Mending item and sneaking while right-clicking the air spends levels to repair the item in hand.
Protective XP floor
A configurable threshold keeps a minimum number of levels in the bank, so repairs cannot empty a player's experience.
Mending opt-in
Only items with the Mending enchantment are touched, so other gear is never repaired by accident.
Survival-only operation
Creative and spectator players are skipped, and XP is not spent on the death screen.
Admin controls
Operators set defaults, force a mode for everyone, and suppress repairs during PvP combat through a hook that combat mods can call.

How it compares
Mending Bob is a client-side only Fabric and NeoForge mod released under the MIT License, with files for 1.21.11 – 26.3, so only the player installs it and the server does not. OverpoweredMending runs on client and server across Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.16.5 – 26.3 under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only. Mending Rework is server-side only, built for 1.21.1 – 1.21.11 and licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, so it does not cover the 26.x builds.

What the author says
Repair your gear with XP — passively or on demand. No anvils. No grindstones. Vanilla Mending only heals the item you're holding, and only when an XP orb happens to drop — so your armor rots mid-fight and your off-hand never gets a repair. expRepair fixes that. It spends your stored experience — levels and the…
