Exline's Fishing adds a large set of fish species to the game, which players can catch, eat raw or cook.
What it does
Each fish species is a new catch for the fishing rod, and the mod lists many of them, from Anchovy and Bass to Coelacanth, Marlin, Piranha and Squid. Some fish are edible, so players can eat them directly, and cooked versions are included as well. The author notes that more cooked variants may come later.
The mod runs on both the client and the server, so a server that uses it needs it installed and every player on that server needs it too. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source. Files cover four game versions in the 1.16.5 – 26.3 range across Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt loaders, and the most recent file for each loader is listed at its own version.

How it compares
Fishing Frontier is server required with the client optional, so players can join without it, and it is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only. FishingSim is also server required with the client optional, but it is open source under the MIT License and covers a wider version span, 1.20.1 – 1.21.11. Ringo's Terraria Fishing is a Forge mod for 1.20.1 only, with the client and server both needing it.
