Enhanced Villagers

by Latibro

Enhanced Villagers changes how villagers trade and carry goods, so they behave more like players in the vanilla world.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.19.2 – 1.21

What it does

Villagers gain a 36-slot inventory, the same size as a player's, and trades update what that inventory holds. Villagers buy the food they need and sell any excess food, and the mod adds a merchant profession. Nitwit villagers and unemployed children can take part in trading as well, so the village economy has more participants than in vanilla.

The mod is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. It needs Architectury API on every loader, and Fabric API on Fabric. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with builds for 1.19.2 and 1.21, and the latest Fabric and NeoForge files target 1.21 as alpha releases. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod.

Key features

  1. Larger villager inventory

Each villager carries a 36-slot inventory, matching the size of a player's inventory.

  2. Food buying and selling

Villagers purchase food they lack and sell surplus food they hold, giving the village a working supply cycle.

  3. Trades that change stock

Completed trades update what a villager keeps in its inventory, so stock shifts with use rather than staying fixed.

  4. Merchant profession

A dedicated merchant profession adds a villager role centered on trading.
