Emoji Type
by Norbiros
Emoji Type inserts over 200 emojis and symbols into any text field from short keywords such as :skull: or .
What it does
Typing a colon in chat opens a list of suggestions as the keyword is entered, and the arrow keys or mouse choose the entry. The same keyword works on signs, in books and on anvils, where the full code must be typed before it converts. Emojis are standard Unicode characters, so other players see them even without the mod.
The mod is client-side only, so a server gains nothing from it and a player can use it on any server. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 32 release versions, 1.16.5 – 26.2, under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and the project is open source. Cloth Config API and Mod Menu are optional companions for settings and menu access.

Use cases
Chat messages
Players add symbols to conversation without leaving the chat box or switching to a resource pack.
Signs and books
Builders place emojis on signs and in written books using the same keywords.
Who it’s for: Players who want symbols in chat, signs and books on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt. Server owners do not need it, since the mod does nothing on a server.
How it compares
Symbol Chat is also client-side only and open source under the MIT License, but it targets Fabric alone across 1.18 – 26.3. TwemojiChat is open source under the MIT License, client-side only and available for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.20.1 – 26.1.2. Snippetist is client-side only on Fabric for 1.20.1 – 1.20.4 and is not open source, licensed under 0BSD.

What the author says
Emoji Type allows you to instantly insert 200+ emojis into your game using intuitive keywords. Type:skull: and get ☠️ instantly. Works in chat, signs, books, anvils - everywhere text appears. No resource packs or texture changes needed. Nope! It’s 100% client-side. It won’t do anything if installed on a server.
