Elytra Control
by Smootheez
Elytra Control lets players change how Elytra flight behaves, from locking flight in midair to simplifying takeoff, through options set in-game or in a config file.
What it does
Players can switch off Elytra flight entirely, cancel midair glides, and adjust the on-screen overlay in several display modes, including text with an icon, text only, or a hidden overlay, with the position also adjustable. A takeoff option simplifies launching the Elytra, and the default jump behavior can be kept when the feature is disabled. Each feature is turned on or off separately, so a playstyle can use only the parts it needs.
The mod is client-side only, so only the player's client needs it and servers run without it. It requires Fabric API and Smoothiez Api, and the config menu requires Mod Menu to be opened in game. Settings can also be edited manually in the config directory. Builds cover 1.20.1 – 1.21.11 across 18 release versions, with 0.3.3+1.21.9 for 1.21.11 as the latest Fabric file. The code is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, so the mod is open source.
Key features
Locked midair flight
Elytra flight can be locked so a player cannot stop flying mid air, in the way Bedrock Edition handles it.
Custom control keys
Each control can be assigned to a custom key, so the flight options do not have to share default bindings.
Takeoff assistance
An optional takeoff feature makes launching the Elytra simpler, and it can be enabled or disabled separately.
Overlay display modes
The on-screen overlay can show text with an icon, text only, or stay hidden, with its position adjustable on screen.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who want more control over how Elytra flight feels, and players who want the overlay or takeoff simplified. Because the mod runs only on the client, server owners do not need to install it.
