EditableEdibles
by fonnymunkey
With EditableEdibles, server owners can give food items custom potion effects, chances, durations and amplifiers through a config file, without writing a mod.
What it does
Vanilla food items normally apply at most one effect when eaten. EditableEdibles lifts that limit: each entry in its config lists a potion effect, the chance it applies, its duration and amplifier, and the food item it belongs to. Several effects can be defined for a single food, and entries can also match items by metadata, such as different kinds of fish.
The config covers more than effect application. Default effect handling can be cancelled for foods such as raw chicken, custom effects can replace the defaults, and cure effects and cure types can be given their own chances. Foods can also be marked as always edible, and optional entries add chances to MistyWorld intoxication and pollution. Changes made through the Forge config menu apply in-game without a restart, and each option carries a formatted tooltip.
The mod runs on the server, so players join without installing anything. It requires FermiumBooter and is published for Forge 1.12.2 only, with 1.3.3 as the latest file, released under All rights reserved. The source code and issue tracker are public, but the license is not open source.
Key features
Multiple effects per food
A single food item can apply several potion effects, each with its own chance, duration and amplifier.
Default effect override
Default effect handling can be cancelled for a food, or replaced with custom effects defined in the config.
Cure effects and types
Cure chances can be set for individual items and for whole cure types, applied when the food is eaten.
Always edible items
Listed food items can be made always edible, and an override option lets server owners set that per item.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Modpack authors and server owners running Forge 1.12.2 who want to change what food does without writing code. Players only join the server and need nothing installed.
How it compares
NoEffects is also server-side only and open source under the MIT License, with a 1.12.2 build, so it covers the same version and environment. Food Effect Tooltips (Forge) is client-side only and open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, for 1.16.5 – 1.21.10 on Forge and NeoForge, so it changes tooltips rather than effects. EditableEdibles differs by being unlicensed for redistribution, under All rights reserved.
