Food Effect Tooltips (Forge)

by Suel_ki

With Food Effect Tooltips, the tooltip of any food that grants a status effect lists that effect when the item is hovered in the inventory.

ForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.16.5 – 1.21.10

What it does

Many food items give the player status effects when eaten, but those effects are not written anywhere in the game. The mod adds them to the item tooltip, which helps in modded packs where a player may not know what every food does. Effects that apply only with a percentage chance are listed as chances, and stat changes caused by an effect are shown alongside it.

The mod runs on the client only, so servers and other players need nothing installed. It is built for Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.16.5 – 1.21.10, and it can be used with Cloth Config API as an optional dependency for its settings. Its code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.

Key features

  1. Effect tooltips on food

Each food item that applies a status effect shows that effect in its tooltip.

  2. Chance-based effects

Effects that trigger only with a percentage chance are shown with that chance.

  3. Stat changes shown

The stat changes an effect causes are displayed with the effect name.

  4. Works with food info mods

The tooltips coexist with other mods that show food information, such as AppleSkin.

What the author says

This is the Unofficial Forge version of Food Effect Tooltips, licensed under LGPLv3, please support the original work! Quite a few food items grant the player bonuses in the form of status effects. These effects, however, are never listed ingame. Which is a nuisance, especially in modded scenarios, where the player…
