Players who want to carry a mob between places can pick it up with an empty hand and set it down again with EatMob, a Fabric and Quilt mod for 26.1 – 26.3.

FabricQuiltClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source26.1 – 26.3

What it does

Holding a mob in an empty hand lets the player pick it up, and a second action places it back down. A mob can also be consumed instead, when the optional setting is enabled. The mod keeps the mob's name, variant and other entity data while it is carried, so a picked-up mob comes back as the same creature. It needs Fabric API on either loader, and it runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. The 1.0.1-26.3 file for 26.3 is the latest release, released under the MIT License, and the code is open source.

Key features

  1. Pick up mobs

An empty hand lifts a mob, and the player can place it again elsewhere in the world.

  2. Optional consumption

A setting turns the pickup action into one that consumes the mob instead of carrying it.

  3. Retained entity data

Names, variants and other entity data survive the pickup, so the mob returns unchanged when set down.
