EarlyStage
by Globox1997
Players who want a slower start on Fabric can use EarlyStage, which adds flint tools, a sieve and a rule that logs must be chopped with an axe.
What it does
Early in a survival world, the mod supplies a flint tool set and a crafting rock. Leaves give sticks and gravel gives flint, while loose rocks lie on the ground in forests. A crafting rock is made from those pieces and struck with another rock to produce the early tools. Logs can only be harvested with an axe, so the first trees require the gear the mod provides.
A sieve lets players process dirt, sand and similar blocks to recover items that would otherwise stay hidden. Its drops can be customized through a datapack, so a server owner can define the results. The mod is developed for Fabric and has no Forge version planned. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. It is released under the MIT License, and the source code, issue tracker and wiki are public. Files exist for 1.21.1 and three earlier releases, 1.19.2, 1.20.1 and 1.21.
Cloth Config API and Fabric API are required dependencies and must be installed alongside EarlyStage. The first files were published on 2023-04-19, and the latest Fabric build, 1.2.3+1.21.1, is for 1.21.1 and dates from 2026-10-15.

Sieve with datapack drops
A sieve processes dirt and sand, and its drop table can be changed with a datapack.
