Dropped Item Tweaks

by Microcontrollers

Dropped Item Tweaks changes how items on the ground look, with options to hold them still, show more of a stack and resize them.

FabricNeoForgeOrnitheClient-side onlyGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.8.9 – 26.3

What it does

Vanilla dropped items bob up and down. The mod can remove that motion so each item only rotates in place. Stack display also changes: vanilla shows at most five items for a stack depending on its size, while this mod can show the exact count up to 64, or keep the vanilla scaling if the config says so. A default scale and custom per-item scales are available as well.

The mod is a client-side visual tool, so only the player's game needs it, and a server can run without it. It is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and it includes an overlay for a competitive challenge mode. Installation needs Fabric API, Mod Menu, OneConfig and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL). Fabric files cover 1.20 – 26.3 and the NeoForge file is for 1.21.8, while Ornithe covers 1.8.9.

Key features

  1. Static dropped items

Removes the up-and-down bobbing so dropped items only rotate where they lie.

  2. Dropped stack item count

Sets how many copies of a dropped stack are drawn, up to 64, instead of vanilla's five-item limit.

  3. Exact item count display

Shows the exact number of items in a stack, with a config option to return to vanilla scaling.

  4. Item scale

Adjusts the default size of dropped items.

  5. Custom item scale

Assigns separate sizes to individual dropped items for a tailored look.

Use cases

Clearer loot piles

Large stacks stay readable on the ground because the count shown matches the real amount.

Static display for screenshots

Holding items still helps when a scene should not animate.

Who it’s for: Players who want dropped items to look different in singleplayer or on a client. Server owners do not need to install it.

Questions

Does Dropped Item Tweaks need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is required alongside Mod Menu, OneConfig and YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL).

Does the server need this mod?

No. Players add it to their own game, and a server needs no copy.

Can the count shown be reverted to vanilla?

Yes. The config keeps the vanilla scaling of item counts available, so the exact display can be turned off.
