Dragon Nest
by ThirtyFangs
Dragon Nest is a World generation mod by ThirtyFangs that adds an alternative way to obtain a dragon egg after the Ender Dragon has been defeated.
What it does
Dragon nests are rare structures that appear near the end islands, and each one offers a way to collect an egg after the dragon falls. The vanilla egg is unique and cannot be retrieved after it is placed, so the nests let a world have another source. Obtaining one from a nest still leaves only one player owning a dragon egg at a time.
Players who want the nests to appear in an existing world need to fly a long way through the end islands to reach them, and a datapack variant offers the same route without changing the code. The mod is meant to stay close to vanilla: it keeps the original rarity of the egg and adds a new route to it rather than replacing the old one.
Dragon Nest runs on the server and is not needed on the client. It is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and as a data pack, across 13 release versions 1.21.4 – 26.3, with snapshot builds published. The mod is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.
Key features
Rare dragon nests
Nests appear as rare structures near the end islands, keeping the egg's original value.
Alternative egg source
A nest gives a second way to get a dragon egg after the dragon has been killed.
Vanilla-friendly design
The egg stays unique and vanilla behavior is kept, with the nests added beside it.
Data pack option

Use cases
Adding a route to the egg
A world that has already defeated the dragon can still get an egg from a nest on the end islands.
Vanilla-style servers
Server owners who want the egg to stay rare can add nests while keeping one egg per player.
Who it’s for: Server owners and survival players who want a second way to obtain a dragon egg in a vanilla-like world, without changing the rules of the egg itself.
How it compares
Eggbound is a server-side only mod for Fabric, published for 1.21.11 alone and not open source. Monster Eggs is a client and server mod for Forge and NeoForge, open source under the MIT License, covering 1.18.2 – 26.3. Dragon Nest works on either side, and neither side strictly needs it, yet it is not open source.

What the author says
This datapack adds some very very rare dragon nests, a new way to obtain dragon egg once the dragon has been killed and that the egg can't be retrieved! This datapack is vanilla friendly, in the way that originally, the dragon egg is unique, but once the dragon has been killed once, it is normally not possible to get…
