Dispenspear
by 1Dot
Dispenspear lets dispensers wield spears and launch tridents, giving redstone builds a thrusting attack and a projectile option.
What it does
Once Dispenspear is installed on a server, a dispenser holding a spear performs a thrust attack instead of ejecting the item. The attack reaches one block forward and uses the spear's material tier for damage, with Sharpness included in the calculation, while Knockback sends enemies flying straight out of the dispenser's mouth. Each strike consumes durability, which Unbreaking reduces.
Dispensers can also launch tridents as projectiles, consistent with the trident-launching mechanics of Bedrock Edition. Launched tridents function like the ones a player throws, and entities can pick them up after they land. The thrust and launch animations include an extend-and-retract motion, and enchantments are supported throughout. Dispenspear runs on Fabric for 1.21.11 and is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 only, with its source code published.
Key features
Spear thrust attack
A dispenser holding a spear thrusts it forward, with the attack offset set to line up with the dispenser's mouth.
Tiered damage with enchantments
Damage follows the spear's material from wood to netherite, and Sharpness and Knockback are applied to the strike.
Trident launching
Dispensers launch tridents as projectiles, and the launched tridents can be picked up by entities after landing.
Custom death messages
Eight random death messages are added for players killed by a dispenser spear.
