Dispenser Configurator
Dispenser Configurator lets server owners define how vanilla dispensers use items, through a data-driven list loaded from data packs.
What it does
The mod changes what a dispenser does with an item it is holding. Each configurator lists items or item tags and sets the action a dispenser takes with them, replacing the default item-use behavior for those items. Configurators are written as a new data type, so they are added and edited through data packs rather than code. The mod defines five target types that control how an item is used.
The mod runs on the server only, and players join without installing anything. It works in single-player worlds as well, where the same data packs apply. Fabric API is required, and the mod is published for Fabric and Quilt; there is no Forge build. Files cover 34 release versions, 1.17 – 26.3, and the latest build targets 26.3. The code is open source under the MIT License, which allows anyone to port it.
Key features
Data-driven configurators
Each dispenser configurator is a data entry that lists items or item tags and the action assigned to them.
Five item-use targets
Five target types cover the ways a dispenser can handle an item, so entries can match different use behaviors.
Default data pack included
A built-in Default Dispenser Configurators data pack holds several configurators the author tested, and it can serve as an example.
Disable with a vanilla command
The bundled data pack can be turned off with the vanilla datapack disable command, leaving only custom configurators active.
Translation support
Translation help is collected through Crowdin, and the wiki describes how to write new configurators.
