Disc Fragments
by boyonk
Disc Fragments changes how Music Discs are obtained in Minecraft, replacing their loot tables with fragments that players collect and combine.
What it does
Music Discs in the vanilla game drop from their own loot tables. Disc Fragments reworks that process so each disc is gathered in pieces: 18 new fragments are found in Creeper chests, and the discs that were previously dropped directly now depend on those fragments. The mod also includes Chase Skies Tears as one of the items in this system.
The mod runs on the client and on the server, so both sides need it installed for the changed loot to behave the same way for every player. It requires Fabric API and is published only for Fabric, across 13 release versions, 1.21 – 26.1.2. The code is not open source, and the mod is released under All rights reserved.
Distribution of discs stays as it was in other respects. Datapacks such as Disc Discovery Re-disc-tribution can be used alongside it, since the mod leaves the rest of the disc distribution unchanged.
Key features
Fragment-based discs
Music Discs are assembled from Disc Fragments in place of dropping whole from their vanilla loot tables.
18 new fragments
Eighteen additional Disc Fragments can be found in chests carried by Creepers, adding a new source of discs.
Chase Skies Tears
The mod includes Chase Skies Tears as a collectible item within the fragment system.
Datapack compatibility
Other disc datapacks, such as Disc Discovery Re-disc-tribution, can run with the mod without the distribution being altered.

How it compares
Craft Music Discs is open source under the MIT License and works on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.21 – 26.3, with the server required and the client optional. The-BedrockSMP runs on Fabric only for 1.21.6 – 26.2 with the client and server both needed and uses a custom license that is not open source. Tankster's Discs is a server-side only Fabric mod for 1.21.8 – 1.21.10 under All rights reserved, so players join without installing it.
