NoSignGUI
by CoolAid
NoSignGUI lets players switch off the text editing screen that opens when a sign is clicked, so placing many blank signs stays quick.
What it does
Clicking a sign normally opens an editing screen. With NoSignGUI the screen can be toggled off, so a player can place a sign and move on without stopping to type. The toggle is bound to G by default, and its state is kept in a config file, so it stays off between sessions. Blank signs are the main use: building trap layouts or long rows of signs no longer means opening and closing a screen for each one.
Only the client needs the mod, so a server does not have to run it and players join without it on the server side. Fabric API is required, and the mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 25 release versions, 1.16.5 – 26.3. The code is under the MIT License and is open source, with a public source repository and issue tracker. It was inspired by Masonion's NoSignGUI mod, and it works alongside hanging signs on the client.
Key features
Toggle the sign screen
A key press turns the sign editing screen off, so clicking a sign places it without opening the text interface.
Default key G
The toggle is bound to G by default and can be changed in the game's key settings.
State saved in config
The on or off state is written to a config file and restored the next time the game starts.
Hanging signs support
The toggle also applies to hanging signs on the client, so both kinds of sign behave the same.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who place many signs in a row, such as builders making decorative lines or trap layouts, and anyone who finds the sign editing screen slows down their work.
How it compares
Improved Sign Editing is client-side only and is published for 1.19.2 – 26.3 under All rights reserved, so its code is not open source. Sign Icons is client-side only, open source under the MIT License, and built for Fabric and Forge across 1.20 – 1.21.11, so it covers fewer loaders. Signs Faster is client-side only, released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, and supports Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.20.1 – 26.3 without Forge.
