Disable Player Reporting

by mdcfe

Disable Player Reporting removes Minecraft's player reporting feature on the client, so chat reports can no longer be filed from the game.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.19.1 – 1.21

What it does

Starting with Minecraft 1.19.1, chat messages carry a signature generated by the game client, which Mojang uses to check reported messages. The mod disables the in-game reporting function and changes nothing else, so players can still chat normally on multiplayer servers, including servers that enforce secure profiles.

Many mods that claim to disable reporting also add extra changes that can block chatting or break secure servers. This mod leaves the signing system and the profile data sent to servers untouched, so it does not interfere with the signatures. It is published for Fabric only, for game versions 1.19.1 – 1.21, with 1.1 for 1.21 as the latest file. Only the client needs it, and the mod is open source under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Reporting disabled

The in-game option to report another player's chat messages is removed from the client.

  2. Chat still works

Players keep chatting on multiplayer servers as usual, including servers that require secure profiles.

  3. Signatures left intact

Chat message signing and the profile data sent to servers are not modified, so the signing system keeps working.

  4. Single purpose

The mod changes only the reporting feature and adds no other alterations to the game.

Use cases

Playing on secure servers

Who it’s for: Players on Fabric who want the reporting function removed from their own client and still want to join multiplayer servers that enforce secure chat.

How it compares

Full comparison

No Chat Reports takes a different approach and is licensed under the WTFPL, not open source under an OSI license, with files for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt covering 1.19 – 26.3; it works on either side, and neither needs it. Allow Chat is published for Fabric for 1.18.1 – 1.21.1, needs both the client and server, and is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only.
