CrowMap

by diena1dev

CrowMap embeds a browser inside Minecraft 1.21.11 so players can view an in-world web map, such as a Dynmap page, without leaving the game.

What it does

Players get a full-screen browser that loads a web map address set in the config, which points at the Horizon's End Dynmap by default. Browser output can also be drawn as a flat panel anchored at a set position in the world, which faces a chosen direction and moves automatically to a nearby anchor sign when one is found, or as a small minimap in a configurable screen corner, with its size and margin set in the config.

It requires Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin, and the libraries it relies on, owo-lib and MCEF, are embedded in the mod jar, so they need no separate install. Files were first published on 2026-04-14 and the latest build, 0.3, was updated on 2026-08-02. The code is available on GitHub, and the license is a custom one, so the project is not open source.

Key features

  1. In-game browser screen

A full-screen browser shows a configurable web map, with a right-click menu for jumping to coordinates under the cursor.

  2. World-anchored panel

The browser texture can be shown as a flat panel in the world, repositioned to a nearby anchor sign when one exists.

  3. Corner minimap

The same browser texture can be drawn as a small minimap in a chosen screen corner, with size and margin set in the config.

  4. Local map server

When enabled, the mod fetches LiveAtlas, a local Dynmap host, and serves it on a random loopback port. The feature is disabled by default.

  5. Overridable system map image

A full-screen image in the mod's resource pack can be replaced by a resource pack with a crowmap namespace image, so any local picture can be shown instead.

Questions

Does CrowMap need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin are both required, along with Fabric Loader for 1.21.11.

Does the server need CrowMap installed?

No. Players add it to their own game, and a server needs no copy.

Can the system map image be changed?

Yes. A resource pack can override the system map image in the crowmap namespace, so any local image can be shown instead.
