Depillage

by pajic

Depillage stops pillager outposts from spawning once enough pillagers have been killed near them.

FabricNeoForgeServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source26.1 – 26.3

What it does

Each outpost counts pillager kills within a set radius around its structure. When the count reaches the required amount, the mod prevents further pillagers from spawning at that outpost. Both the kill threshold and the radius are configurable, with defaults of 100 kills and 64 blocks. The mod was written to stop pillager outposts from endlessly producing pillagers across a large area, a problem the author describes as the reason for the project.

Depillage is server-side only, so players join without installing it. It also works in single-player worlds, where the integrated server runs it. Players who take part in clearing an outpost receive on-screen messages that show progress toward the threshold for their current outpost. Server owners who want custom text install Polymer on the server and enable the Auto-Host option. Translations for the progress messages are included, and clients without a translation see the default English text.

Depillage requires Fabric API on Fabric. Builds exist for Fabric and NeoForge across five release versions, 26.1 – 26.3, and the latest file is 1.0.2+26.1.2 for 26.3. The code is released under the MIT License and is open source.

Key features

  1. Outpost kill threshold

An outpost stops spawning pillagers once the configured number of kills has been reached near it.

  2. Configurable kill radius

The area around each structure where kills are counted can be set in blocks, with 64 as the default.

  3. Participation messages

Players who fight near an outpost see on-screen messages with the progress for that outpost.

  4. Custom message text

Server owners can change the progress messages through Polymer, and translated text is used where available.

Questions

Does Depillage need Fabric API?

Yes, on Fabric. Fabric API is listed as a required dependency, so it must be installed next to Depillage. The NeoForge build does not list it.

Do players need to install Depillage?

No. The mod is server-side only, so players join a server running it without installing anything. Single-player worlds run it on their own integrated server.

Can the kill threshold and radius be changed?

Yes. The amount of kills needed and the radius in blocks around each structure are both configurable, with defaults of 100 kills and 64 blocks.

What the author says

Ever thought it's stupid that there is no way to prevent pillager outposts from spawning pillagers infinitely in a huge area? Yeah, me too. This mod stops pillagers from spawning at their pillager outpost if enough pillagers have been killed near the outpost. Participating players will receive on-screen messages…
