Data Tables

by Drakonkinst

Data Tables gives Fabric servers a data pack resource that maps identifiers to integer values, and the table can be queried with a command.

FabricServer required, client optionalMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.7 – 1.21.8

What it does

The mod adds a new data pack resource called data tables. Each table holds key-value pairs, where an identifier such as an item, block or block entity type maps to a different integer. Modders and data pack creators can build numeric lookups into their own data-driven content, and the entries are kept simple enough to write by hand.

Data Tables runs on the server, so the server has to have it installed, while clients may add it as an optional syncing mod. Its resources refresh during a reload like other data pack files. Tables can list tags as well as individual IDs, and they accept modded items, so content from other mods can be included. Files are published for Fabric only, for 1.21.7 and 1.21.8, and the code is open source under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Key-value data tables

Each table maps identifiers to integer values, so a modder can attach a number to an item, block or block entity type.

  2. Tags and individual IDs

Entries can point to a whole tag or to a single ID, which keeps long lists short.

  3. Optional client syncing

The client can receive table contents from the server through an optional syncing mod.

  4. Table query command

A table command lets a player or a modder look up a value in a table without reading the data pack files.

Use cases

Data pack content

Data pack creators can define values for their own items and blocks in a table, without writing Java code.

Modded items

A mod can list the items it adds in a table so other data packs can read their values.

Who it’s for: Mod developers and data pack creators who want numeric lookups keyed by item, block or block entity identifiers. Server owners who run data packs can use the mod to load these tables.
