DabaoSword is a Fabric and NeoForge equipment mod that adds card-based combat, where players draw, discard and play cards during a timed match.

What it does

Matches run on a configurable timeout. Players are secretly assigned identities as Rebels, Turn-coats or Ministers, and the match ends when a team reaches the highest score or the timer expires. Killing hostile mobs gives a small chance to draw a card, and killing a player draws one card and restores health.

Cards come in basic and active or passive forms. Basic cards trigger automatically in set situations, active skills are used with a hotkey (J by default, configurable), and passive skills fire once their conditions are met. Some skills share a cooldown while others have their own. Dash Peach Wine is used by right-clicking, and scroll cards must be held and used with a right-click.

The mod depends on Curios API and Trinkets Canary. Files exist for 1.20 – 1.21.8 on Fabric and NeoForge, and the code is open source under the MIT License. Both the server and every player need it, and its contents are drawn from the Legends Three Kingdoms setting.

  1. Timed scoring matches

    A configurable timeout ends the match, with the team holding the highest score winning, otherwise a single leading player wins.

  2. Card discard and draw

    Pressing Left Ctrl + K opens a screen where cards can be discarded, and discarding three cards draws one new card.

  3. Hidden role assignment

    At the start each player receives a hidden identity, and eliminated players reveal theirs and spectate the rest of the game.

  4. Team lives

    Respawns continue for each player until the shared lives of their team are used up, and teams are formed out of three or more groups of players.
