Cursed Tides
Cursed Tides is a Forge adventure mod for 1.20.1 that brings high-seas piracy, working cannons and pirate-themed gear into the game.
What it does
The mod takes its high-seas theme from the Pirates of the Caribbean films. Players can build a pirate career that ends in fame or ruin, and the path is up to each player. Working cannons are the central weapon: a cannon needs cannonballs in the inventory, and right-clicking a cannon with a stick fires it.
Custom weapons and custom armor sets add gear with unique abilities. Geckolib is required, so it must sit beside Cursed Tides. Eureka! Ships! for Valkyrien Skies is optional and is noted by the author as the recommended companion for naval play. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. It is released under All rights reserved and is not open source, and the author describes it as an alpha with unfinished features and known bugs.

Use cases
Pirate roleplay on a server
Server owners who run a pirate theme can add the mod so that every player fights with cannons and pirate gear.
Naval play with Eureka Ships
Players who want ships on the water can add Eureka! Ships! for Valkyrien Skies, which the author recommends as the companion for naval play.
Who it’s for: Players who want pirate combat with cannons, and server owners who run a pirate theme. Because the mod is an alpha release, players should expect bugs and missing features.
How it compares
Pirates Awakened is client and server and released under the MIT License, the only alternative here that is not All rights reserved, with files for 1.20.1. Archimedes Mod is server-side only, so players join without installing it, and it is also All rights reserved. Cursed Gear is client and server and All rights reserved, published for 1.20.1 like Cursed Tides.
