CrowBar
by castledking
Players on a client install CrowBar to replace the locator bar's dots with player skin faces and readable name tags above each marker.
What it does
CrowBar is a client mod that extends the locator bar. Each player marker can show a skin face instead of a plain dot, a readable name tag, and optional distance text beside the name. Team colors carry over to the markers, and a self-view mode hides the hearts, hunger and armor displays from the vanilla bar so that clean screenshots can be taken.
With the optional Allium Essentials plugin on a Paper server, the server can send CrowBar a dedicated locator payload containing player UUIDs, positions, team colors and visibility state. This lets CrowBar keep showing players who are hidden, sneaking or invisible, which vanilla waypoints would otherwise drop. Without the plugin, CrowBar falls back to the players the client can already see, including LAN and integrated-server sessions. Servers need nothing installed for that fallback. GPExpansion claim waypoints are also drawn with a claim name and a bowtie marker, and claim owners and trusted players are shown as the claim's labels.
CrowBar is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and is open source. Builds for Fabric and NeoForge cover 1.21.6 – 1.21.11 and 26.1 – 26.3, and the newest release is 1.0.2+mc26.3. Mod Menu is optional on Fabric and adds an in-game config screen, while NeoForge uses its own settings screen.
Key features
Skin face markers
Locator bar dots are replaced with the skin face of each player, so markers are easier to tell apart.
Readable name tags
Player names are drawn above each locator bar marker, with optional distance text next to the name.
Team-colored dots
Team colors are kept on the markers, so teams stay recognizable in the bar.
Self-view capture mode
A self-view mode hides the vanilla hearts, hunger and armor displays for clean locator bar screenshots.
