Creeper Confetti

by SR2610

With Creeper Confetti installed, a creeper that would explode scatters confetti instead, and players and blocks are left unharmed.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.7.10 – 26.1.2

What it does

Creeper Confetti replaces the creeper's explosion with a harmless burst of confetti, a practice the mod has followed since 2014. The change is configurable: explosions can still damage players while leaving blocks intact, the chance that a creeper confetti-bursts is set by default at 100%, and a separate cheer sound plays at a default chance of 5% from 1.19.2 onward.

The mod is client and server, so a server and each player need it installed. It is free software under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later and is open source, with public links to its source code and issue tracker. Files target the 1.7.10 – 26.1.2 range across Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with Fabric and NeoForge's latest file being 5.0.0 for 26.1.2 and Forge's latest being 4.1 for 1.19.3 on the beta channel. The mod first appeared on 2022-09-18 and was last updated on 2026-05-03.

Some setups use the Vanilla Tweaks datapack instead of this mod, since the mod predates datapacks by four years. Confetti does not always appear, and the author states that this bug will not be fixed in older versions.

Key features

  1. Confetti replaces explosions

A creeper's blast is swapped for a harmless confetti effect, so the explosion no longer destroys blocks.

  2. Player damage option

A setting decides whether an explosion can still hurt players while blocks stay unharmed.

  3. Confetti chance

The share of creeper explosions that turn into confetti is configurable, with a default of 100%.

  4. Cheer sound chance

From 1.19.2 onward, a cheer sound can play with confetti, at a configurable default of 5%.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want creepers without their usual block damage. Installing it on both sides keeps the confetti effect consistent for everyone on a server.

How it compares

Full comparison

Creeper Tweaks is server-side only, open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license and published for Fabric and Quilt on 1.21.9 – 26.3. No Creeper Griefing is server required with the client optional, under the MIT License and open source, for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt on 1.21 – 26.3. Creeper Confetti needs both client and server, so each player must run it, unlike Creeper Tweaks.
