Craft Obsidian

by exline

Craft Obsidian lets players make obsidian in a crafting table by combining water and lava buckets, skipping the slow mining process.

FabricClient and serverMIT License1.14 – 1.21

What it does

Craft Obsidian adds a crafting recipe that turns one bucket of water and at least one bucket of lava into obsidian, so the block can be made directly at a crafting table. The recipe scales: eight buckets of lava with a single bucket of water produce eight obsidian blocks. The result is one block per recipe, and the recipes fit within the vanilla crafting system without changing other game rules.

The mod targets players who need large amounts of obsidian for portals, enchanting setups or big building projects, and who would rather spend time on construction than on mining. It runs on the Fabric loader only. Craft Obsidian is client and server, so the server and every player need it. Files cover game versions 1.14 – 1.21, and the latest file is 1.0.1 for 1.21, published 2024-06-27. The mod is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Obsidian from buckets

A bucket of water combined with lava in a crafting table yields obsidian without any mining.

  2. Scalable batches

Eight lava buckets with one water bucket craft eight obsidian blocks in a single recipe.

  3. Vanilla-style recipes

The recipes sit in the standard crafting grid, so they feel like the rest of the game.

  4. Large-scale building support

Players gathering obsidian for big projects can skip repeated mining trips.

Use cases

Portal and enchanting builds

Players who need a large stock of obsidian for nether portals or enchanting setups can produce it from buckets.

Large construction projects

Builders working on big structures can convert buckets into obsidian blocks instead of mining them one by one.

Who it’s for: Players who want to skip mining obsidian and server owners who want the crafting option available to everyone on their server.

Bucket Replenisher is client-side only for Fabric, covers 1.21.11 – 26.1.2, and is released with all rights reserved and not as open source. Craft Obsidian instead needs both sides and covers a wider range of versions.
