Cosmetics Equipment

by nullstilles

With Cosmetics Equipment installed, a player gets four separate cosmetic armor slots for head, chest, legs and feet, so the look of worn gear can change without changing its stats.

ForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1

What it does

Cosmetic items sit in their own slots and display over the armor the character actually wears. The real armor keeps its protection, so the player can pick a style without giving up defense. Changing the appearance is purely visual and does not affect combat balance.

A button in the player inventory opens the cosmetics screen, and cosmetics can be switched on or off at any time. The mod adds new armor items for these slots. It runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it, and it is published for Forge only, for 1.20.1 alone, with 1.0.0 as the latest file from 2026-01-10.

Key features

  1. Separate cosmetic slots

Head, chest, legs and feet each have a cosmetic slot that is independent of the real armor worn underneath.

  2. Stats stay unchanged

Worn real armor keeps its full protection while a cosmetic item changes only how the character looks.

  3. Inventory button

A button in the player inventory opens the cosmetics screen, where armor is placed into the matching slot.

  4. Toggle on and off

Cosmetic display can be turned off and on again at any time, returning the character to its plain armor look.

Use cases

Style without stat loss

A player who wants a particular outfit can wear it over heavy protective gear and keep the defense of the real armor.

Who it’s for: Players who want to customize how their character looks in Forge 1.20.1 without changing armor stats or combat balance. Server owners need the mod installed as well, because the environment is client and server.

What the author says

Cosmetics is a simple cosmetic armor mod that lets you keep your armor stats while changing how your character looks. You can wear real armor for protection and use cosmetic slots to display different armor (or nothing at all). Perfect if you want style without sacrificing stats.
