Compact Armor Bar/HUD

by x7bbbbbbb

Compact Armor Bar/HUD changes how armor points are drawn on the right side of the HUD, placing the armor bar above the hunger bar in a shorter, clearer form.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

On the in-game HUD, armor points are shown in a more compact layout, and the total armor value is displayed as a number. Durability of the worn armor pieces can be read from the same display, and a low durability bar blinks so it is easier to notice before a piece breaks. The armor bar sits on the right side of the HUD, above the hunger bar, and the mod includes a configurable row offset for cases where other mods add rows to that side.

The interface adapts to other HUD elements such as bubbles, mounts and GUI scale, and the author lists compatibility with Better Mount HUD and similar mount displays, with the aim of reducing overlap with other interface mods. The mod requires Fabric API and oωo (owo-lib). It is a client-side only mod, so servers do not need it. It is released under the MIT License and is open source, with the source code and issue tracker publicly linked. Files target 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, and the latest Fabric build is 1.0.1 for 1.21.1.

Key features

  1. Compact armor points

Armor points are drawn in a smaller, easier-to-read form than the vanilla armor row.

  2. Total armor value

The sum of armor points is shown as a single figure on the HUD.

  3. Durability per armor piece

Each worn armor piece has its remaining durability displayed.

  4. Blinking low durability

A low durability bar blinks so a nearly broken piece is noticed faster.

  5. Configurable row offset

The position of the extra rows can be adjusted when other mods add rows to the right side of the UI.

Questions

Does Compact Armor Bar/HUD need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is a required dependency, and oωo (owo-lib) is required as well. Both must be installed next to the mod.

Does the server need this mod?

No. Servers do not need it; each player installs it for their own game.

Which game versions have files?

Files exist for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with 1.0.1 for 1.21.1 as the latest Fabric build.

Can the armor bar be moved if other mods add HUD rows?

Yes. A configurable row offset adjusts the position when other mods add rows on the right side of the UI.

What the author says

Ever felt that the armor bar is just unnecessary clutter in the UI (Specially when having multiple Heart rows)? Ever wanted to have an unintrusive, yet intuitive way to display the armor durability?
