Common Bridge

by BasiqueEvangelist

Common Bridge is a server-side Library mod that connects several common APIs from Patbox, so other mods can use them without each one handling a separate integration.

FabricQuiltServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.20 – 1.20.2

What it does

Common Bridge provides adapters that let mods built on Patbox's Common APIs work with protection, economy and related systems. Protection and economy checks that many mods need are routed through one interface, so a mod that calls the common API does not have to talk to each economy plugin itself. Providers cover Open Parties Claims, Numismatic Overhaul, Diamond Economy, Lightman's Currency and Octo Economy API.

The mod is server-side only: only the server needs it, and players join without installing anything. It requires Fabric API, and it is published for Fabric and Quilt on Minecraft 1.20 – 1.20.2, with files for 1.20, 1.20.1 and 1.20.2. The latest builds, 0.2.0 for 1.20.2 on the beta channel, were released on 2023-12-27. The source code is public and the code is released under the MIT License, so it is open source.

Key features

  1. Protection API bridge

Connects Patbox's Common Protection API to claim and party mods so protection checks resolve through one interface.

  2. Economy API bridge

Connects Patbox's Common Economy API to supported currency and economy mods for shared balance and transaction calls.

  3. Provider coverage

Includes providers for Open Parties Claims, Numismatic Overhaul, Diamond Economy, Lightman's Currency and Octo Economy API.

  4. Safe shared use

Lets modders call the common APIs safely, without writing their own integration for each individual plugin.

Faelib APIs is a Fabric-only library for 1.20.1, released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and it is open source; either side can run it. CroakLib covers Fabric, Forge and Quilt for 1.20 – 1.20.6, is client and server, and is open source under the Apache License 2.0. Economy Fabric uses a custom license, with Fabric files for 1.17.1 – 26.1.2, and either side can run it. Common Bridge differs by being server-side only and focused on bridging Patbox's protection and economy APIs.

What the author says

Patbox's Common Protection API and Common Economy API are useful for unifying protection and economy checks, but they aren't used by everybody. Common Bridge™ includes providers for a variety of mods so that the Common \* APIs can be safely used by modders.
