Command Block IDE

by arm32x

Command Block IDE replaces the command block editing screen so that several command blocks can be edited at once in Minecraft Java Edition.

FabricClient required, server optionalGNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 onlyOpen source1.16.5 – 26.1.2

What it does

The mod swaps the vanilla command block screen for an editor that works on many command blocks in one pass. Multi-line versions of each command are kept in a separate file, because the game does not store multi-line commands natively. Deleting that file collapses every command to its single-line form. Edits can be applied without closing the screen, and functions in datapacks can be opened for editing in a beta feature.

The file that holds the multi-line text stays on the local computer and never reaches other players in a shared world. Collaborative work on commands is therefore limited to single-line commands. A mismatch between the single-line and multi-line versions can appear after logging in from another computer or when another player changes a command. Fabric API is required. The mod is published for Fabric only, for game versions 1.16.5 – 26.1.2, under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only, and the source code and issue tracker are public.

Key features

  1. Multi-command editing

Several command blocks can be opened and changed together, without returning to the world between edits.

  2. Live apply

Changes are applied from inside the GUI without closing it, so a command can be tested while it is edited.

  3. Multi-line commands

A single command can be split across several lines in the editor and is stored in full in the local file.

  4. Chained command editing

Command blocks can be moved within the GUI and extra commands can be added to the chain from the same screen.

Questions

Does Command Block IDE need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is a required dependency and must be installed alongside Command Block IDE on Fabric.

Can Command Block IDE be used on a server?

Each player installs it; a server may add it but does not have to.

Are multi-line commands shared in multiplayer?

No. The multi-line text is stored in commandblockide.bin on the local computer and is not synced to other players.
