Combat Rebalance
by MidasDaEpik
Combat Rebalance changes how eating, natural regeneration, Ender Pearls, tridents and maces behave in combat, with each change adjustable in a config file.
What it does
Natural regeneration now consumes hunger at a 1:1 rate, and healing starts at a faster pace of one heal every two seconds instead of four. Regeneration continues until the hunger bar reaches 8 rather than 18, and saturation no longer speeds healing, so high saturation from food stops producing burst recovery. Eating time scales with the saturation a food gives, with a minimum of half a second and a maximum of two seconds, and a short cooldown follows each meal. Food-based effects add a cooldown per effect level, which discourages chugging several gapples in a row.
Ender Pearls are weaker as an escape tool but still useful for long-distance travel. The trident and mace are reworked toward mid-range combo play, and the mod alters their attack damage, attack speed, reach and knockback. The mod requires YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL) on both the client and the server, and it is open source under the MIT License. Its published files cover only 1.21.1, for Fabric and NeoForge. Changes to Ender Pearls break stasis chambers, a side effect the author notes.
Key features
Configurable saturation healing
Saturation-based healing is disabled by default, and server owners can re-enable it in the config file.
Regeneration pacing
Natural regeneration heals one point every two seconds and stops at hunger level 8, which steadies healing during fights.
Food cooldowns
Each meal adds a short cooldown, and effect-carrying foods add more time per effect level.
Reworked weapons and pearls
Tridents, maces and Ender Pearls receive new attack, reach, knockback and teleport values, all set in the config.

What the author says
All of the changes made by this mod can be tweaked and disabled through the config file. Make healing more steady in combat rather than in bursts with food, making high saturation foods not as overpowered as they are. And changes eating time based on hunger and saturation given which gives a use to lower nutrition…
