Colorwheel Patcher

by djefrey

Colorwheel Patcher automatically patches supported shaderpacks at launch, replacing the manual patching step.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

At launch the mod edits supported shaderpacks so they work with the shader mod it targets. Players select the patched pack, whose name ends in "+ Clrwl", in the shaderpack menu. Supported packs are listed in the mod's own documentation and include several widely used packs, with some officially supported from later releases.

The mod is client-side only, so only the player's installation needs it. Builds exist for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1. The code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved, and public links to the source and issue tracker exist. Modpacks may redistribute the mod for free. Shadows for Create contraptions depend on a shaderpack option: Entity Shadows and Block Entity Shadows are often off by default and must be enabled for contraptions to cast light and shadow.

Key features

  1. Automatic shaderpack patching

Supported shaderpacks are patched at launch, replacing the manual editing that the shader setup otherwise requires.

  2. Patched pack selection

Each patched pack appears in the shaderpack list under a name ending in "+ Clrwl", so it is simple to tell apart from the original.

  3. Supported shaderpack list

Several shaderpacks are covered, each with a listed version range of supported releases in the mod's documentation.

  4. Contraption shadow option

Enabling Entity Shadows and Block Entity Shadows in the shaderpack lets Create contraptions cast lights and shadows.

Questions

Which loaders does Colorwheel Patcher support?

Builds are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. The latest file for each loader targets 1.21.1, except Forge, whose latest file targets 1.20.1.

Does the server need Colorwheel Patcher?

No. The mod is client-side only, so servers run without it and only players install it.

Why are Create contraptions not casting shadows?

Shaderpacks often disable Entity Shadows and Block Entity Shadows by default. Those options must be turned on in the shaderpack settings.
