cmd command

by mitama

cmd command lets a player run Windows system commands by typing them in the Minecraft chat bar, with output streamed back as it arrives.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.21 – 1.21.11

What it does

Typing a command in the chat bar sends it to the Windows command line on the local machine, and the output is shown in the game in real time. Because the command runs on the player's own computer, it has no effect on a server the player is connected to. The mod runs on the client alone, so a server does not need it and players on a server running it are unaffected.

cmd command is built for Fabric and is published as a single loader version. Files cover 1.21 – 1.21.11 with 1.0.0 for 1.21.11 as the latest build, first released on 2026-07-04. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the source code and issue tracker are public.

Key features

  1. Windows commands from chat

Commands typed in the Minecraft chat bar are executed directly by the Windows command line.

  2. Real-time output

Results from a running command are streamed into the game as they are produced, rather than appearing only once it finishes.

  3. Ten terminals

Terminals numbered 0 to 9 can be selected and managed separately, giving up to ten parallel sessions.

  4. Wait for completion

A command can be set to wait until it finishes before the next one is sent, which keeps sequences of steps in order.

Use cases

Quick system tasks

A player can check disk space, list processes or run a script without leaving the game window.

Development from inside the game

Running build or test commands from chat while playing lets a developer watch output side by side with the game.

Who it’s for: Players and developers who work on Windows and want to run system commands without switching windows. The mod is not suited to anyone who shares a computer with others, because commands run with the permissions of the local account.
