ClusterComputers
by adralioh
ClusterComputers lets players run Kubernetes-powered computers inside Minecraft, where each computer is a full Linux container rather than a limited script environment.
What it does
Most computer mods in Minecraft restrict the player to a small environment that runs Lua scripts. ClusterComputers takes a different route: each computer is a pod in a Kubernetes cluster, and the pod holds a regular container with full access to a Linux command line. Inside it, a player can choose the programming language and run ordinary command-line programs such as vim or emacs.
The default container image includes a Python library for controlling computers from Python code, and other languages can be used by switching to a different container image. The trade-off is setup and cost: a Kubernetes cluster must be running before the mod can be used, which requires technical knowledge, and pods use noticeably more resources than an embedded Lua environment.
The mod is published for Fabric and Forge, currently for 1.20.1 only, with the latest files dated 2026-01-21 on the alpha channel. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Architectury API, Cloth Config API and Fabric API are required dependencies, and the code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
Key features
Pod-based computers
Each in-game computer is backed by a Kubernetes pod, so its environment is defined by the container running inside it.
Full Linux command line
A pod gives access to a Linux shell, where command-line tools such as vim and emacs can be installed and run.
Python control library
The default container image ships with a Python library for driving computers from Python scripts.
Custom container images
Players who want another language can build or select a different container image for their computers.

Use cases
Who it’s for: The mod suits players and server owners who already run or are willing to run a Kubernetes cluster, and who want a computer environment that is not limited to Lua scripts.
