OpenComputers Community Edition

by akki697222

OpenComputers Community Edition adds programmable computers, robots and modular hardware that persist across saves, continuing the original OpenComputers project.

ForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1

What it does

Computers are built from modular parts such as graphics cards, network cards and redstone cards, and they run programs written in Lua 5.2 and 5.3. Existing OpenComputers software is kept compatible wherever possible. A computer keeps its state through save and reload, and execution resumes at the point where it was saved and loaded again.

Many other components extend computers, including motion sensors, holograms and robots. Adapter blocks connect computers to other mods, for example to read power or information from energy cells. Most of the original settings can be changed in the config file, and the mod needs a power source from a compatible power-generating mod by default.

The mod is published for Forge 1.20.1 only, under the MIT License, and it is open source. It is a client and server mod, so both the server and every player need it. Scalable Cat's Force is required as a dependency.

Key features

  1. Persistent computers

Computers keep their running state across saves, so programs pick up where they stopped after the world loads again.

  2. Modular hardware

Graphics cards, network cards and redstone cards can be combined in a computer to match the task at hand.

  3. Robots and sensors

Robots, motion sensors and holograms are among the components that extend what computers can control.

  4. Adapter blocks

Adapter blocks link computers to other mods, for example reading power or information from energy cells.

Use cases

Automation builds

Computers can read machines and drive redstone or robots to automate parts of a base.

Server systems

Server owners can script shared computers and networks for players to operate across the world.

Who it’s for: Players who want programmable automation in Minecraft, and server owners who run scripted systems, with a compatible power source already in the world.

What the author says

This is an unofficial continuation of OpenComputers. This mod adds computers that can be programmed in Lua 5.2 and 5.3, while preserving compatibility with existing OpenComputers software wherever possible. Computers persist across saves (i.e. execution resumes where the computer was saved when it is loaded again)…
