Clear Gpu Cache

by StarChen

Clear GPU Cache is a client-side optimization mod that clears the graphics card's cached data to fix certain rendering errors.

ForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.19.2 – 1.21.11

What it does

The mod addresses rendering problems caused by stale GPU cache data. Clearing that cache resolves some visual faults, and the author reports that it fixed issues seen with the zink renderer, particularly on less capable hardware such as cell phones. The effect is comparable to what OptiFine's Smooth FPS option aims for, without the same compatibility conflicts.

Clear GPU Cache runs on Forge and NeoForge only, and only the client needs it, so servers do not have to install anything. Files are published for 15 release versions 1.19.2 – 1.21.11, with 1.0.1 for 1.20.1 and 1.0.2 for 1.21.11 as the latest Forge and NeoForge builds. The code is released under the MIT License and is open source.

The author notes that using the mod can cause a slight drop in frame rate. The author also states that the mod was created to fix an earlier problem and is no longer updated or ported to later Minecraft versions.

Key features

  1. GPU cache clearing

Clears cached graphics data on the video card to address stuttering and visual glitches.

  2. Zink renderer fixes

Targets rendering errors that appear when Minecraft runs through the zink renderer.

  3. Smooth FPS alternative

Aims for an outcome similar to OptiFine's Smooth FPS setting without running OptiFine.

Use cases

Lower-end hardware

Players on modest hardware, including phones running a compatible renderer, can apply the cache clear when rendering errors appear.

Who it’s for: Players who run Forge or NeoForge clients and see rendering faults, particularly with the zink renderer. Server owners do not need to install it.
