VMD Animation Cache
VMD Animation Cache is a Forge client mod that stores MMD motion results for SlashBlade entities within a single frame, so the same motion is not recomputed.
What it does
When the game calls setupAnim again for the same tick and partial tick, the full MMD pipeline for that entity is skipped and the cached pose is reused. The result is one calculation per entity per frame instead of many repeated calls. The author reports a frame rate rise from about 50 to 190 FPS in a third-person view with a single SlashBlade entity visible, measured on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47 and a recent SlashBlade Resharped build.
The mod depends on SlashBlade:Resharped and runs on Forge for 1.20.1 only, with files dated 2026-05-30. It is client-side only, so a server does not need it and players install it alone. The code is about 32 lines and relies on a coremod approach, and it is released under the MIT License as open source.
Key features
Per-frame motion cache
Stores the result of each SlashBlade MMD animation calculation for the current frame and tick.
Skipped redundant pipeline
Repeated setupAnim calls with the same tick and partial tick reuse the stored pose instead of running the full pipeline again.
Small footprint
The cache is a single stored result per entity per frame, keeping its memory and code cost low.

Use cases
Third-person SlashBlade play
Players viewing a SlashBlade character from behind, where many repeated animation calls slow the frame rate, can use the cache to regain frames.
Who it’s for: Players who run SlashBlade Resharped on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge and see low frame rates when SlashBlade entities are on screen.
How it compares
SlashBlade Resharped RenderFix Patch is a Forge client mod for 1.20.1 – 1.20.6 under the MIT-0 license and is not open source. SlashBlade:AcceleratedRendering is a Forge and NeoForge client mod for 1.20.1 under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 or later and is open source. VMD Animation Cache targets only 1.20.1 on Forge and is open source under the MIT License. Note that VMD Animation Cache and AntiEntropyCore inject the same Mixin target, VmdAnimation, so they conflict when installed together.

What the author says
VMD Animation Cache eliminates redundant MMD motion computation in SlashBlade Resharped, giving you ~3.8x FPS improvement (50 → 190 FPS) when SlashBlade entities are on screen. When SlashBlade renders MMD-based blade animations, VmdAnimation.setupAnim() is called 60–120 times per entity per frame — once for every…
