CITX (CIT Extension)

by Lavandula Collective

CITX lets players rename Custom Item Textures items with a single command, replacing the file extension the item uses without stacking extensions.

FabricClient and serverApache License 2.0Open source1.20.1 – 1.21.11

What it does

A player runs one command to give a Custom Item Textures item a new name. The command keeps the item's base name and changes only the extension, so a second rename replaces the previous extension rather than appending to it. A separate command resets the name to its default. Before a name is applied, the mod cleans up naming conditions and collapses duplicate underscores, so the result stays tidy without the player formatting anything by hand.

Both the server and every player need CITX, since the environment is client and server. Renames work with full display name support. Fabric API is required, and Mod Menu is optional. CITX is open source under the Apache License 2.0 and is published for Fabric across 12 release versions, 1.20.1 – 1.21.11. Because Minecraft updates client-side item displays only on certain actions, the renamed item shows correctly after the inventory is opened and closed or the world is reloaded.

Key features

  1. One-command renaming

A custom command renames a Custom Item Textures item, which replaces the anvil workflow for changing names.

  2. Extension replacement

Running the command again with a new extension replaces the old one, so extensions do not accumulate on an item.

  3. Name cleanup

Naming conditions are cleaned up and duplicate underscores are collapsed before a new name is applied.

  4. Reset to default

A single command restores the default name of a renamed item.

What the author says

A smart mod that makes renaming CIT items quick and easy with one command. Made for builders, creators, and anyone tired of the anvil clanking. ⚠️ Important: After using any command, open and close your inventory to refresh the renamed item so it displays correctly in the world.
