ChestSorter
by andriyt2233
ChestSorter lets a player sort the entire contents of a chest, barrel or other storage block with one click, using a Sort button or a hotkey.
What it does
Opening a chest, barrel or similar storage block shows a Sort button in the screen. Pressing it, or a configurable hotkey, rearranges every item in the container so that matching stacks sit together. The sorting works on standard storage blocks and does not need any special block to be placed first.
The mod is a lightweight utility intended for builders, casual players and anyone who spends too much time moving items between cluttered containers. It is built to run without a noticeable effect on game performance. Because it changes only the contents of containers when the button is pressed, it leaves the rest of the game as it was.
ChestSorter requires Fabric API. It is published for Fabric only, for Minecraft 1.21.1, and runs on the client alone, so servers do not need it installed. The code is under the Apache License 2.0, and the mod is not open source.
Key features
One-click sorting
A single button press sorts the whole chest, so a full container becomes organized in one action.
Sort button and hotkey
The sort action is available from a button on the storage screen and from a keybinding for use without the mouse.
Customizable sorting rules
Sorting options such as sort by type or sort by name can be chosen to control how items are arranged.
Works with standard storage
The sort works on ordinary chests, barrels and similar storage blocks already in the world.

Use cases
Tidying a base
After a build collects items from many sources, a single press puts each container in order without manual rearranging.
Finding items quickly
Grouped stacks make it faster to locate a needed item inside a large chest.
Who it’s for: The mod suits builders, casual players and players who keep many chests and want less time spent managing items. Because it is client-side, it can be added to a single-player world or a multiplayer client without asking the server owner to install anything.
How it compares
