Chest Colorizer
by kalucky0
With Chest Colorizer installed, a player can dye any chest or barrel so its color shows what it holds from across the room.
What it does
Chest Colorizer lets players assign one of the dye colors to a chest or barrel. The chosen color marks the container, so a player can tell at a glance which storage holds which kind of item. The mod is a client-side Fabric decoration and utility mod, and it needs Fabric API to run. Colors are saved on the client and stay visible to the player who set them, not to other players.
The mod works on servers as well as in single-player worlds, because it changes nothing the server has to know about. Each player sets colors on their own client, so one player's color scheme does not appear for others. Chest Colorizer is open source under the MIT License and is published for Fabric only, across 24 release versions 1.19.4 – 26.3, with snapshot builds included. The latest Fabric file, 2.1.0, targets 26.3 and dates from 2026-10-05.
Key features
Color-coded chests
Chests and barrels take on a chosen dye color, so the container's color indicates the type of item stored inside.
Dye color choice
Players can pick from the dye colors for individual containers, which makes each storage identifiable at a glance.
Client-side colors
Chosen colors are saved on the client and shown only to the player who set them, so other players do not see them.
Works on servers
The mod can be used on multiplayer servers, since the colors are a visual aid stored on each client.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who keep many chests in a base and want a visual way to recognize their contents. Server players can use it without the server needing a copy of the mod.
How it compares
Unidye is a Fabric mod for 1.20 – 1.21.1 that runs on the client and server, and its code is all rights reserved, not open source. Iron Chests is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, runs on client and server and covers 1.18.2 – 26.2 on Fabric and Quilt, so it changes the chests themselves rather than just their color. Ender Chest Palette is also all rights reserved, is client and server for 1.21.11 – 26.2, and colors ender chests specifically.
