Chat Tools
by 70CentsApple
Chat Tools adds a client-side set of chat utilities, including timestamps, translation, a notifier, macros, chat bubbles and a chat filter, to Fabric and NeoForge.
What it does
Chat Tools is a client-side only mod for chat. Players can attach timestamps to messages, have incoming and outgoing text translated, set up notifications, trigger macros, display chat bubbles and filter messages. Only the client needs it, so servers run without it and players on a server that does not have it are unaffected.
The mod is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and its source code is public. Installation requires Cloth Config API alongside the mod. Files are published for Fabric and NeoForge across 40 release versions, with 2.4.5 for 26.3 as the latest file on both loaders.
Key features
Chat timestamps
Messages can be stamped with the time they were received, shown in the chat window.
Translation
Incoming and outgoing messages can be translated through built-in translators, including web machine translators.
Regex chat filter
Messages can be matched against regular expression patterns, which are applied in multiline mode and matched with find().
Color code stripping
Color codes are removed from player messages during processing, so filters and macros read plain text.
Version-specific builds
Macro replacement lets one codebase support many Minecraft versions, though small behavior differences can remain between them.

Use cases
Keeping track of conversations
Timestamps and a notifier help players follow busy chat on a large server without watching the window constantly.
Reading other languages
Translators let players follow chat written in a language they do not speak.
Filtering noise
Regular expression rules hide or mark messages that match a chosen pattern.
Who it’s for: Players who use chat heavily on multiplayer servers, or who want translation and filtering on the client without changing the server.
How it compares
Plague's Chat Timestamps covers timestamps only, is client-side only, and is open source under the MIT License with files for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 1.16 – 26.3. Chat Filters is a Fabric-only, client-side mod under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, published for 1.21.9 – 26.2, and it handles filtering alone. LiveTranslator is for Fabric and Forge, is not open source, and is licensed as All rights reserved; players can run it on a client, a server, or both, and neither side needs it.
