Caelus API
Players who want to fly with elytra on a mod-added item rely on Caelus, an API that gives other mods a generic elytra flight attribute.
What it does
Caelus is a small utility that takes the elytra flight behavior hardcoded in vanilla Minecraft and moves it into an entity attribute. Mod developers can read and set that attribute to add elytra flight to their own items or mechanics, and Caelus itself adds no flight content for players to use directly. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.13.2 – 1.21.5, under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, and the source code is open source.
Key features
Generic flight attribute
Elytra flight is exposed as an entity attribute rather than being fixed to the vanilla elytra item.
Developer access
Developers read and set the attribute from their own code, so flight can be granted by any item or effect they choose.
Utility library
Caelus works as a coremod and API, and many other mods depend on it to provide flight.

What the author says
Caelus is a small utility mod that abstracts the hardcoded vanilla elytra behavior into a more generic elytra flight attribute and exposes this to mod developers seeking to implement elytra flight for their own mods. All modders have to do is call CaelusApi.getInstance().getFallFlyingAttribute() wherever they want to…
