FabricForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1

What it does

Caduceus extends Hex Casting with meta-evaluation features: delimited continuations, continuation marks and jump iota manipulation. The jump iota display is also reworked so its contents are easier to read. Most of the code is written in Clojure, outside of Mixin.

Installation needs Architectury API and Hex Casting on both Fabric and Forge, plus Fabric API on Fabric. Caduceus runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Builds target 1.20.1 only, with 0.3.0+1.20.1 as the latest file on both loaders, under the MIT License, which is open source.

Key features

  1. Delimited continuations

Spells can capture and resume evaluation at marked points, using delimited continuations inside Hex Casting.

  2. Continuation marks

Marks placed in an evaluation let a spell tag frames of its continuation and read them back later.

  3. Jump iota manipulation

Jump iotas can be created and changed, giving spells control over where evaluation resumes.

  4. Clearer jump iota display

Jump iotas are shown in an improved format, so their targets are easier to follow while a spell runs.

How it compares

Full comparison

HexConnect is Forge-only, open source is not claimed for it, and it targets 1.20.1 with the same client and server environment. Abandoned Greatwork is open source under the MIT License, published for Fabric and Forge on 1.20.1, and Almightly Staff covers the same loaders and version. Caduceus adds the continuation features on top of the base mod instead of building its own item set.
