Burnt
by pxlbnk
Flint and steel, flame arrows and lava can set vanilla blocks alight in Burnt, which leaves charred, twisted wood and trees behind.
What it does
Burnt adds fire behaviour to Minecraft's vanilla world. Lighting a block with flint and steel starts a fire that smolders, blazes, spreads and burns, and the wooden structures and trees it consumes stay in the world as burnt, twisted remains that still yield resources. Fire arrows shot from a FLAME enchanted bow, a fire barrel that can be set alight, lava pours and lightning strikes all feed the same system, and creepers can be exploded with flame arrows.
The mod requires Cloth Config API on every loader. Burnt is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across five release versions, 1.19.2 – 1.21.1, under the MIT License, though the code is not open source. Only the client needs nothing extra: either side can run it, and neither needs it, so the mod is optional on a server. Burnt-Fighters requires it as a companion. A server owner who wants a quick reset can run /burnt killFire in an emergency to stop the spread.
Key features
Flint and steel ignition
Lighting a block with flint and steel starts a fire that spreads and burns through the surrounding blocks.
Flame arrows
Arrows shot from a FLAME enchanted bow set blocks alight and can be used to explode a creeper.
Fire barrel and lava
A fire barrel can be set alight to start a blaze, and pouring lava ignites the blocks it touches.
Charred remains
Burned wooden structures and trees stay in the world as burnt, twisted pieces that can be harvested for resources.
Smoke, ember and ash
Smoke, ember and ash particle effects accompany each burning block, and lightning strikes can start new fires.

Use cases
Scorched builds
Builders can leave charred ruins in a world instead of clearing burned areas by hand.
Emergency reset
Server owners can stop an out-of-control fire with the /burnt killFire command.
Who it’s for: Players who want fire to change the terrain of a survival world, and server owners who want a command to stop spreading fires.
How it compares
Fire Arrows spread fire is server-side, open source under no license, and published for 1.21 – 26.3 on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, so it suits server setups in that range. Bredfie runs on client and server under the Apache License 2.0 and covers only 1.20 – 1.20.6 on Fabric. Burnt differs from both by focusing on burnt terrain and resources rather than arrows or a single fire effect.

What the author says
We've watched it, played with it, and shouted angrily at it in Minecraft since the early early days. But it's not great, behaves badly, takes things from us and doesn't give back… so what if it could be something better? This is BURNT. A Vanilla fire enhancing mod, if you light it, it will burn… Not disappear… BURN…
