Better Recipe Book

by marshmallow

With Better Recipe Book installed, the vanilla recipe book gains brewing and smithing recipes, one-click crafting and optional display of locked recipes.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.17.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

Players open the recipe book as usual, and the mod extends it with brewing and smithing recipes. A single click crafts one item, and holding shift crafts as many as the inventory allows. Furnace recipes appear in the book so players can see them, and locked recipes can be shown too, which helps players who pin specific recipes.

The mod has no server component. Only the client needs it, and the book can be turned off completely from its settings. Architectury API and Fabric API are required dependencies, so both must be installed on Fabric. Builds are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 13 release versions, 1.17.1 – 1.21.1, and snapshot builds are published as well. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the project keeps a public source repository and issue tracker.

Key features

  1. Brewing recipes in the book

Brewing recipes are listed in the recipe book alongside the crafting entries.

  2. Smithing recipes in the book

Smithing recipes are shown in the book, so their inputs can be checked without leaving the game.

  3. One-click and shift crafting

A click crafts a single item, while shift crafts as many as the inventory holds.

  4. Furnace recipe display

Furnace recipes are shown in the book, and locked recipes can be displayed before they are obtained.
