Blocks You Need, a Forge and NeoForge decoration mod by Lunakibby, adds over 1000 blocks with their own recipes, grouped into several themes.
What it does
Blocks sit in the world as worldgen-friendly additions: a block can be found placed in the landscape, and the mod alters the world generation only slightly, so a world already in progress keeps its seed and continues without harsh borders. Magical blocks are scattered wherever the author found they fit.
Most blocks are survival-ready, each crafted from a single block and a recipe unique to it, with new material arrays supplementing vanilla stock. The themes lean toward Sci-fi, Industrial and Steampunk styles alongside Vanilla+ variants. Because the volume is large, the author suggests using a recipe manager such as JEI, EMI or REI, with the vanilla recipe book disabled.
Blocks You Need requires Mods Need Collection. Its files target 1.18.2 – 1.21.4 on Forge and NeoForge, with 7 release versions in total. Client and server both need the mod, and the code is released under the Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike 4.0 license, so the project is not open source.
