BEYOND HORIZONS MOD

by Sausage-Dawg

Beyond Horizons lets players far away be seen by others, drawing them as lightweight ghost figures past the normal player render distance.

ForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1

What it does

Players beyond the usual render distance are drawn as lightweight ghost versions, which shrink smoothly with distance so a player stays visible even at extreme ranges. Ghosts are a visual layer only and do not change where a player actually is. The mod is most useful when a long-range terrain renderer is also running on the client.

The mod works in multiplayer and in single-player worlds that have it installed on the client. Client and server both need it, so server owners install it alongside clients. Files are published for Forge, for 1.20.1 only, with 1.0.0 as the latest file released on 2025-11-21. The code is not open source, and it is released under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Long-range player ghosts

Players far outside the normal render distance appear as ghost figures instead of disappearing from view.

  2. Smooth distance scaling

Ghost figures scale gradually with distance, so a player does not pop in or out as the range changes.

  3. Lightweight rendering

Ghosts are drawn in a simplified form, which keeps the extra rendering cost small compared with full player models.

  4. Render disable option

Players whose computers cannot run the terrain renderer can disable its rendering in its menu to avoid problems with disappearing objects.
