BetterHead Chat

With BetterHead Chat installed, chat messages float above the heads of the players who sent them, instead of only appearing in the chat window.
What it does
Each message is drawn as floating text over the sender's head for a set time, which shows who is speaking in a crowded area. Vanilla chat whispers and tellraw system messages are handled as well, and the mod parses tellraw output with configurable message patterns. When a sender cannot be read from the text, a heuristic fallback tries to detect the player name.
The display range, line lifetime, line height and the maximum number of lines can all be adjusted. An optional setting hides messages from the chat window so that only the floating text above heads remains. Settings open from ModMenu in a config screen built on YetAnotherConfigLib (YACL), which is required and must be installed alongside the mod.
The mod is a Fabric mod for the 1.21 – 26.3 range and is released under All rights reserved; it is not open source. Files exist for 17 release versions, the latest being 26.3-1.0.1 for 26.3, published 2026-09-28. Servers do not need it; each player installs it for their own game.
