BetterChatNeoForged
BetterChatNeoForged is a NeoForge server-side chat mod that gives server owners control over how chat messages, timestamps and tab-list names are shown.
What it does
Chat formatting is handled entirely on the server. Prefixes and suffixes can be attached to player names, and the mod integrates with LuckPerms so that permission groups and nicknames appear in messages without extra setup. Timestamp formats and tab-list player name formats are both set in the configuration.
Server owners can switch individual features on or off and assign their own permission nodes. Scheduled server announcements can be configured to repeat at set intervals. The mod is a NeoForge port of BetterForgeChat, and most behaviour can be tuned through its configuration without editing code.
Only the server needs the mod, so players join without installing anything. Builds cover 1.21.1 – 1.21.11, and the latest file is 1.0.0 for 1.21.11, published on 2026-07-25. The code is open source under the MIT License.
